I'm in a Marriott suit at present. It is SO nice. I'm amazed at how frail my mom can be and still be alive. Her apartment is not far from here.

my mom is 87 and beging to fail now, makes my heart hurt.

I'm sorry to hear that Rusty, its something we all have to go through, and its never easy, words dont help a whole lot, its one of those things that just is.

Many of us have been through it, life goes on, spend time with her if possible, and help her through it.

My grandmother is getting so frail also. They are stronger than you think. My grandmother just went through back surgery in June at 85! Other than dropping too much weight, she came through it beautifully.

Kathy - If you see any barnevelders PLEASSEEEE get a pic for me! Wouldn't mind seeing the wellies either.

Hmmmm, what can we think of that Kathy will bring home? Chocolate Orps? We all know she likes the big, fluffy birds!

My Mom is frail too Mahonri. About the only socialization they do now is with the doctor's office staff and the hospital. Every week it is something new. Lots of past history baggage prevents our family from being closer. It is sad.

On a happier note, I can't wait to see the shoes Kathy is buying!

She is going to need the revenue from chocolate orps Kelly because her days as a roving reporter for the Buck and Run Ranch are numbered!

How's the work coming in the rain Jake? Every time I see the weather report I see raindrops in your neck of the woods. I am winding down on construction and the like in preparation for a cozy winter by the woodstove looking out on my little piece of heaven. I can't even imagine a winter here without leaks. Last year was our first winter and we had to many ares of flooding outside and leaking inside. At one point, I had to set an alarm for every hour to go downstairs and empty 7 loaf pans I had in a window sill catching the water that poured in from the roof one story up! I think we got all that taken care of last winter so this one should be much easier. With the driveway paved, better gate access to the animal areas, the 6x6 ATV with dump bed we should be good to go! All animals have dry shelters appropriate for their needs. A hot cup of coffee, a recliner, my snuggie, and a remote control completes the picture.

Who needs a remote control when you have a porch and chickens/emus/goats/donkeys to watch?

They'll give you more entertainment than the TV! I'd never get anything done if I lived at your house!

Hi Sheriff

It is moving forward, holes are dug for the post holes, got the Ark moved yesterday out of the way with its temp goat pen behind to make room for the shed pens,

I bring the material home this week and start it, have a helper lined up for afternoons, hay is coming on sat, and an electrician sometime after wed to put an outside outlet for the shed, water heaters , a light and heat lamp if needed for the Icelandics. Its all moving along, it will be.

Outside temp as I write is 28, 64 inside, I will be doing ongoing winterizing on the cabin as things go along but just eves or rainy weather now. Its warm and comfy here, but, not below zero yet. That will come.

I want to get the shed done, at least the part for the Icelandics as they have been in the ark for 3 weeks now, cozy etc for them but not enough light, as soon as they are in the shed they will have much more light. And when their run is done a 10' by 10' run til snow blocks it off . Then its their shed. Roosts, deep straw, heated water and nest boxes. As I write the roos are taking turns making their morning calls. Life is good.

Some folks are cut out for things , and other folks just have their own specialties, roving reporter isnt kathys specialty it doesnt look like, we shall see, 2 days to go.

sure Mary needs a remote, then she can hit pause and stop the animal action while she has a pit stop or refrigerator raid. She wouldn't want to miss anything.
