Icelandic Chickens

Cute chick pics! Congrats!
Mike, Sorry about your rooster.....I rehomed one of the October Fjola x Falki cockerels yesterday to a friend who lost her rooster this month. She has a small mixed laying flock and just wants a rooster to "keep order" and alert her hens.
No pics last weekend, got busy helping a friend move so maybe this weekend........

Yesterday we had thunderstorms most of the day. Warmer temps = good news....water coming into the coop because the ground is frozen = bad news.....and me "shoveling" the water and trying to chip a water way away from the barn and down the hill. Today the wind is howling a gale but the sun is shining so I'm a happy camper!

Mike I was having a problem with Manganese deficiency. First time in a long life. Both roosters are doing much better now. I switched all of them to the layer ration, except the turkeys. I hope as soon as the grower feed is done to put them into the freezer.

Our temps are up into the 30s but so is the wind, the gusts are really strong, tonight the heavy snow returns,

tis the season.

Okay, got a few pics today. Not everyone was out and about when I got around to going out with the camera.

Eldur with the New Hampshires:

A frontal shot of him:

Close up of his comb to show the frostbite damage from our brutal winter:

Elska and two of the Fjola x Falki pullets (siblings to the ones Jake hatched from the eggs I brought him)....dark one is Gunnar and light one is Gula (that is Anna's rump on the left):

Glora (Forsaela x Falki pullet and full sister to the four pullets and one cockerel I brought to Jake):

Great pictures, Mary! Eldur just gets more beautiful, even with the frostbite! I have to say that I'm quite jealous of the little bit of ground that you have showing. We are running out of room to put all of this "white bounty".

Two out with two more pips. Hoping to wake up with four icees! Any idea of possible colors on these two?
