Icelandic Chickens

Mike, No luck involved with my Icees.......it's a sure thing.....just let some "eggs" collect in a nest and next thing you know, somebody is wanting to hatch 'em!

I'll be moving the two of them into their own quarters and hope a couple of others will fill the empty spaces. Ideally I'll have five....just in case...but four would be good too! Gaela, another F x F pullet, was sounding like she was talking the broody talk and walking the broody walk.....she may be next....

...and I do have the New Hampshire that I got from Kathy, two years ago this week, that raised a clutch last year.......

Laurie, If you travel on I-39, 80 or 88, you are close!! Next time, drop me a PM and we'll see if we can meet at an exit for a cuppa!

No broodies here, but I'm getting eggs from both my young and old Icelandics. The old ladies are laying better than the younger ones!

NotAFarm - drove through Illinois 2x in the last week. We went down to Orlando to watch our daughter perform with her choir at Disney. Not sure how close we came to your place.
Interesting my Sister, BIL, nephew, niece and her boyfriend were at Disney 3/24 - 3/30, I wonder if they saw your daughters Choir.

I must do something wrong, or don't encourage early enough. We'll just notice we are getting less eggs and someone is missing. Then they show back up with mutts.

May have seen them. There were quite a few ohio bands and choirs performing around the same time. Pepper Pike and Centerburg were the two that performed the same day as our daughter.

We did I-39 and stayed in Oglesby on the way down and Mendota on the way back. It would be great to meet some day. Was really tough coming back to winter!

Anna has company!! Gola, a daughter of Forsaela and Falki, was sitting on the nest this afternoon and was still there at lock-up!

She growled and grabbed my hand when I moved her to take an egg. If she is anything like her mom, she will be a fierce mother. Now I just need two more......
