Icelandic Chickens

Mary - NotA Farm - loving all your chick pictures! Once the snow is completely gone here, I plan on incubating a few of my Icelandics, but right now everything is so muddy and gross.

Hubby and I just got back from a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii with some friends. It felt just like home with all the chickens roaming and crowing everywhere you went; the beach, hikes, restaurants.... Here are some of them - They reminded me o\somewhat of Icelandics

Wow, this is a long thread. I must say that I'm wanting to get some of these Icelandics. I have the space cleared for a coop and run and plan on having it complete by the end of July. I have plenty of ground and a pine thicket as well. I'm located in West Virginia. I'm even willing to travel a bit to pick them up if I have to. I really enjoy this site and this thread. Have a good evening.

Welcome! You'll have to be "the other Mike" though. (NotAFarm is also known as "the other Mary")

Awsesome! Sounds like a wonderful trip. Sorry about the mud, we tried to clean up before you got home.

Laurie, Good to have you back. I hope your trip to Hawaii was everything you imagined it would be. Love the free ranging chicken pictures! Sorry to hear you have mud.........we got some much needed rain today and it will take a lot of rain to get our dry soil to be muddy! We will probably be mowing grass before long now......yay and agghh.....at the same time.....

Thanks for explaining the name thing. I think the Easter hatch a long has me worn out.

I can't believe you are dry and in need of rain. It's wet here, I should cut grass, but the mower will sink in and leave ruts.

I took a few photos today, I liked this one:

Not the best photo, but I like it because the dark girl in back was the first Icelandic chicken I ever hatched and the rooster was the last one that hatched here until this weekend. The other Icelandic hen in the photo I purchased when she was a young pullet, first beginning to lay.
