Icelandic Chickens

@NotAFarm I got two chicks out of 12 eggs. 9 eggs were intact after shipping but most were infertile. After I absorb these, I need to think about a better way to get some good breeding stock. It may be worth a drive.

I don't have an appreciable amount of Viking although some of my ancestors came from the Danelaw. I just hope I can keep these rough and tumble chickens in line! I love the idea of a pure line that dates back 1000 years and want to do my part to keep it going. Plus, from the photos that I've seen, they are beautiful birds. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike, love the dog and the hatching eggs! We, as new owners of Icelandic chicks, are just gaga for them. I have some pictures for the day. The first is of my 'current' version of 'Rock Dwellers.' The other two are of our Icee chicks. They are running, and fluttering their wings and bounding from place to place and providing us with a lot of fun entertainment fun.

Best to all and your birds.

Lol, yes it is a chick roost, Karole has usurped it with bleached drift wood over in the other corner. I will try to get a picture of it shortly. We certainly do love these birds. They are growing so very fast and are a bit wild. The wife has trouble holding them, they can wiggle and jump free of her hand. A much different bird, from our usual LF ones. Our banty birds are a bit wild as well, but these may be the winners.
