Icelandic Chickens

It's me again. I feel like I am always coming here w problems. :( This time it's rooster problems. How do you experienced chicken people handle your roosters? I've read lots about it & i think ive tried everything except for picking him up & carrying him around - because frankly I don't think I could catch him. Would he be better with more girls to watch over? Or is he worse now because it's spring? Or is this just normal behavior for roosters and they all go after people. I really don't want to get rid of him but he drew blood today and I am running out of ways to deal w him. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears... THANK YOU!!
I hope its not too late for your roo, I have a roo that is very docile until another roo gets loose from his own flock and comes to taunt him, then he attacks me. I was wondering if your roo is being triggered by another roo? By the way, the only way to stop mine is catch him with a net, cary him around under my arm until he calms down (10 min max) after removing the escaping roo.

I just got some icelandic eggs in the mail, but the postal service handled them roughly (thank goodness the seller included many extra eggs in case of this) I am now worried that they may not hatch if they've gotten too scrambled. Anyone know where I could order chicks if the eggs don't hatch? Husband and I have wanted them for years, we really want to help support the breed.

There were no other roos that were causing his aggression and no broodies that he was protecting. I am supposed to pickup another roo soon - I'm a little worried. I hope this one stays nice - supposedly he is now.

Sorry you had to switch roos, I haven't had that happen yet but I haven't had icelandics yet, so I'll keep a sharp eye on any roos that hatch. My most aggressive roo now I hand feed scratch to after I've fed his hens, not sure if that equals pecking order dominance but maybe you can try this with the new roo and see.

Finally got a good photo of our little baby with her two moms. Can't believe how well they share her.

I tried the hand feeding when they were little but they pecked my hands so hard I gave it up. I guess I am a wimp :)

I hope your eggs hatch! I actually hatched a cracked egg so all hope is not lost!

I was told at a farmers market that this was a Icelandic when I posted some pictures on the gender forum I was told it was not. Rather way it is a pretty bird. Could anyone help with gender of this 3 month old and breed. I am afraid it is a roo. If it is a roo we have to find a farm for him. Sill have hopes for no crow
