Icelandic Chickens

Mary,
We have 2 acres unused next to our ghetto chickenville. I am soooo tempted to build a big build on it, and just fence it all in, and do like your plan. Totally Vikings. I am just soooooo tempted and thinking hard on it. The area has plenty of trees for shade and is just perfect.

Well, we could freak out together. Let me know what you decide!

I will have to wait until spring to do anything at all, but it is heavy on my mind. I think I will start looking at some plans and see what I can come up with..... and spring the surprise on DH in the spring.

Gotta tell ya ...
Today, while going over my downsizing plan (yea, I know....) .... Daughter and her SO live in our guest house. He helps out (sorta) with the flock. He is so in love with the Icelandics, he tells everyone all he knows about them. Anyway, he asked me if he could take one of my incubators and do his own hatching for others. He keeps saying, over and over, "We have to save this breed! We can not let them go extinct!" He is just dead serious about preserving them, and is attempting to gain support in our community, by simple word of mouth. I gotta give the boy credit, his heart is really in it. I hope he is able to do more for the cause..... because he sure wants to.

YOU...........give up a bator? He obviously doesn't know you very well!

Maybe you should solve the problem and get him his own bator for Christmas! But I think it is sweet that he wants to help preserve the breed.

And in the pics, your bottom girl is gorgeous!!!!! The rooster is pretty handsome too!

Kelly, Yea, what's wrong with the kid... he should know better! I don't know why he isn't just satisfied with me hatching them. He wants his own Icelandic project, I guess.

I got a call from someone interested in helping in the preservation effort. He is going to take the 5 chicks I just hatched, as well as some in this next hatch. He would like to start out with 10 chicks. I am very excited the interest in the Vikings and their preservation continue to grow!

Aw, c'mon........we all know that Kathy is NOT going to downsize.

That's just what she tells her DH so he will be satisfied.

"Honey, honestly, I'm trying to get rid of them"

Kathy! Maybe your son could start his preservation project by finding the Icelandic chick lost in the Delaware brooder!
