Ok the Icelandic coop is almost done! I ordered the automatic pop door via expedited shipping and they sent it Fed-Ex Ground!
That means it will sit in Sacramento for a full week before it is delivered. Fed Ex does that to make sure you don't get faster service and just pay for ground. I was so disappointed when I talked to the guy. He said he just decided to send it ground since things usually arrive in three days anyway.
NOT! So the move is on hold until that arrives.
The nest box pads are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I tested the roll out boxes again and they work just great. I hope the eggs roll as well with the pads in. I finished the project today and added a slanted roof and some stain. I am still going to hang some fringe or something so they can't see the eggs once they roll to the back.
Here it is. It looks like a Jennie-O turkey display!
This thing is the giant feeder I made out of the wooden sawhorse! I stained the outside to match the nestboxes and made the tray to catch the feed. It is attached to the wall and the lid lifts for filling. I haven't tested it with feed in it yet!
This is the view inside. Everything slants down towards the opening in the bottom.
Here is how they look together.
Here is a ridiculous picture of me demonstrating the opening of the lid. Hubby insisted. For the record, I am wearing two coats!
We also moved the cabinets down from the garage. These will house my incubators and supplies. I am going to put insulation and siding on the incubator/brooder side. I know it won't really make a difference but I can make it pretty that way! Note to any electricians viewing this. Those crazy wires are not done yet. He has to put them in a junction box or something.
I also dug out this little fridge. It will go next to the brooder. It will hold 6 dozen eggs in cartons! I plan to dust it.
I also filled in the escape route over the screen door.
Other than that, hubby finished wiring the barn side and he organized half of it.
Now the Polaris fits! Yes, he
is wearing a ski jacket and shorts.
