Yesterday morning I read Andy's post his Icelandics and thier mass-exodus from brooderville. I must say it was an amusing visual. Then I went down to see my Icelandics.

Whenever I open the door and start talking they all jump up and run, fast and furious, all over their brooder box. The baby brooder is a 7' long clear plastic christmas tree storage tote with a welded wire screen over the top and 2 lamps for light and heat. I don't use heat lamps as they are indoors and don't really need that much extra heat.

Anyway, I do the feed and water routine, perform a little clean-up, then stand back and just watch them. They were actually staring up at the screen cover and jumping at it them re-examining the screen, like they were looking for the way out. Honestly, they looked like they were testing the integrity of the evil screen that was blocking the path to freedom. "Gimme a break you guys, you're not even a week old yet. "
