Sorry Mary, I have been hovering over them like a Mama Rooster (ok ok I just had to say that!

) I know I'll never hear the end of my "roosters laying soon" comment so I better get a few laughs out of it, thats what I call a good investment!! We have 16 in the brooder, 6 zipping and two that I'm worried about, one of the two is trying so hard and has been all day, that I tried to break a little bit of shell away about 11:15 tonight, and it drew blood, he is not ready to hatch.... and the other was sort of upside down and I turned him sideways but he has a good zip going already. I'll be up off and on knowing me whether I like it or not! I'll give an update around 7:30 or 8 in the morning if I am conscious. Funny funny thing, the first black one and the one having a difficult time are the only clack ones, everyone else is pure white. This is the first ever hatch with zero chipmunks for me!

Goodnight to all!

That's crazy, no chipmunks? Hmmm, but the whites can turn out just about any light color. Looking forward to an update in the a.m. We moved 9 two month olds down to the barn coop tonight while they were sleeping. They will wake up with the free rangers. The Icelandics are good about not beating up on newbies. The layer girls in the covered yard are brutal to them. They'll probably be happier down there once they learn their way around. I'll be mothering henning them for a few days to be sure. That just leaves 8 in the grow out stage then I am done with Icelandics for a while until I need to replace. That will give me 44 total and I have a broody on three more. Enough! Oh I forgot I have two extra roos in the rock dweller group that I need to re-home. I will probably end up with around forty when the dust settles.

Well, I ended up with just one from Camelot Farms. The other 2 never did pip. They were dead in the shell. They were white, like I wanted, of course. The one that did hatch is chipmunk looking. I sure hope it has a crest!
