On a another subject, huge thanks to Kelly for giving me a hutch/coop thingy to use as a brooder condo. I cut the legs off to make it floor level, added an adjustable window screen down the center to make it two rooms, added a second door, and constructed a fiberglass awning to keep poopers off. I think it is going to work great. I even built a little deck and stairs to allow the babies to get back in. The top lifts up for cleaning too! I even have a little space to the right for the juvies to hide from the big girls if they need to. I am not sure where they are going to sleep tonight as there used to be a low roost in the spot! They'll figure it out. They're Icelandics!
Here are the two crazies that will be checking into the inn this evening:
Cara, who is sitting on four wooden eggs.
And Lukka, who is sitting on three wooden eggs and one real egg she stole from Cara when she took over her nest box!
