My flock(s) are in 6ft chain link fenced runs with either tin or tarp roof (we have alot a eagles & hawks)
inside my 8ft privacy fenced yard

across the road the farm has ALOT of goats and we have seen foxes hit by cars recently. I figured my girls are safe, guess not.

Time for those red blinking lights Andy was talking about.

Chain link is good, however, you will want to attach something smaller to the bottom of the fence. Chickens like to lay down by the fence, and if you have raccoons, they can pull a fully grown chicken through the holes in the chain link.

there are 2 big dumptsers across from me they pretty much stay over there. So far all i have are snakes & squirles
and my big hens LOVE the snakes - they dont last long near anywhere near them

We have 5 new Icelandics, 3 dark and 2 light. DS killed the camera battery yesterday while I was out

so it's charging now, I should be able to get some pics before I have to leave for work.

I also have a healthy happy baby from the egg that I pulled from the broody buff when I was cleaning. It's from my blue egg layer that was killed by the dog last week, I hope it's a girl

It's prom weekend so we've been busy with dress alterations and tonight the house will be filled with kids having a pre-prom-party and final dress fitting. Tomorrow is the actual event and also the day the chicken killing dog gets her booty put on a plane

In the hatcher we have 3 but I could only get shots of 2, the 3rd was way back in a dark corner

I need help with this one, I have 2 eggs that have basically looked like this since yesterday evening. Are they gonna make any progress or are they stuck?

Crap! I looked in the hatcher as I was leaving and it looks like the dark one above might have a leg issue. It doesn't seem to straighten it's Right leg out all the way and it's toes are kinda spread in an odd way. I won't be able to have a good look till after work. This is going to be a very looooooong day

I think it is stuck! In my experience, if the hole becomes bigger, rather than a "zipper" around the egg, they are stuck.

I agree. The membrane is white when they zip. I find it turns clear, like rice paper, when they are stuck.
