Icelandic Chickens

I'm tellin' ya' it's too late. Kelly was here and put the rooster voodoo curse on that egg.

NO NO give her some lipstick and girlie magazines and she'll be fine

They look quite content Kelly! The other five are walking around stuck together like one big chicken for fear of getting scooped up in the net lest they split up!

I named my butterscoth one Caramellu which is caramel in Icelandic. I call her Cara and Lukka's "baby", who is almost identical, I call Cara Cara. It's easier to remember.

Yes, thanks for that link. I don't think my Scottish Gaelic theme will go over to well with the Icelandics.
Beautiful birds Happy Chooks!

I did not!

I even told you I hoped it was a girl.

I was nice and told you you had mostly girls on your other chicks. And this is how you repay me? Thank goodness I didn't let you video tape me chasing chickens in your yard in your chicken boots!

I thought your refusal to allow me to do that was quite inhospitable considering you were the first person ever to wear my chicken boots. I'm just sayin'.

Is that like Thing 1 and Thing 2?

They made friends with the babies. There's one barnevelder cockeral that's trying to show them he's boss, but they seem pretty content in there. My olive egger girl is on the nest, and she's a grouchy one on the nest, growling and such. She's not broody yet, but her belly is completely bare now from her plucking it out. (she's 7 months old for goodness sake!)

I feel honored.

And even more honored that I didn't get videotaped.

I think you need to let the Emu's wear them, they were quite taken with them!

Can I be off topic?

This is our retirement home. We moved here 4 years ago, from Iowa. We lived in our home there for over 25 years. Our oldest son and his family live there now.

The chicken compound is quite aways away from the house. Nothing fancy, but we love it here.
Right now it is a muddy mess and the dandelions are thriving. Everything needs mowed, but it is too muddy to do that.....

In the 3rd from the last picture, you will see Cody (DD's fiance'). Behind him over to the neighbors house back there is about 2 1/2 acres. We are considering fencing in all that area especially for the Icelandics.
