Kathy's right, it always seems to be our favorites/special ones that something happens to.

I've been extra busy at home this past week and will be again this week. Loving everyone's pics!! Broody hen still sitting on 8 Icelandic eggs (she kicked two out since beginning). She's due the 25th. I will be getting eggs from Mary today or tomorrow and they will go in the bator once "settled"!!

All the various chicks are doing great. I need to get pics of the Easter Hatch group. Maybe tomorrow.....................

Kathy I have a twin to your dark chick, be interesting to see how they develop on. I have 4 chipmunks, all starting to show some differences, one has a crest, looks like a mohawk right now, one white one, and the dark chick with the white chest. It is also showing some comb now, not at all sure which yet, the others probably RCs.

Kelly, okay, Briet isnt chubby, yet,

Luna is going to be a beauty, elegant I think.

Mary sorry about your OE'er, she did look like a personality girl.

I must agree, the chicks are FAST, just for the fun of it and exuberence ! Still got a couple quiet ones who come to the door and see what I am doing, the others seem to do laps, or if they tire of that fly back and forth. I was going to put net over the top of the run but I think I will need it just to keep them in !

Rain forecast today and tomorrow, coolish, but greening up well, off to work on the chicken house.

I resemble that remark.

ACTUALLY: I think most chicken people have ADHD. That's why chickening is sooo good and sooo apealing to them. Lots to do, lots to talk about, and the darn chickens never hold still.

Hmmm you may have something there.

Hey Laree I just saw your new egg request. I panicked about having so many eggs collected so I stacked them in the incubator to start incubating to send chicks to Shawn. I am getting about ten eggs a day so I could ship some to you tomorrow or Friday if that is soon enough. I think I have ten collected so far. Let me know.

Shawn, I may not have enough to send you chicks from the first batch that hatch. I want to send enough to keep them warm. So I may need to send yours from the group I set yesterday. Would that work for you? I wanted to set them so that they would hatch early in the week for shipping. They should ship June 7th.

I really need to take some updated photos, the kids are getting so big and man are they getting pretty!

Hopefully, I can get to that tonight.

In other news, the septic work that had to be put off till Spring is finally done so now we can start working in the pasture, getting ready for the new coop

Looks like 20 X 40 now, the thing just keeps growing.

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of your little one.

I think there are plenty of people on this forum who would understand your grief, though: we all have a lot of time and energy invested in our birds, and it's not because they lay solid gold eggs! It's because we genuinely care for them. They're as much pets as any cat or dog, with the added bonuses of eggs, garden tillage, and kitchen scrap disposal. And while many dogs might be happy to take on the latter two duties, I'd love to see one lay an egg!

Thanks everybody. Kelly has been a kind friend today and let me go on and on about my girl. I am feeling better. I think the reason I took this loss so hard is this pullet was my first real breeding. I just let the Icelandics do their own thing but this one was different. In a few months when my babies grow out I can try again, and I will. With all the chicks I have in the brooder from kathy certainly I will have a pari of something!

Thanks again.

Mary
