Thank you all for your congratulations-and thank you, Mary! I just sent an email to Mary and I was telling her how I stumbled upon the Icelandic thread when I first joined BYC-when I was trying to learn all I could about raising my own little chicks-and I think the Icelandics are beautiful chickens-I do hope to have some of my own when I'm not so new at this. Jake, your new little chicks are so cute!!! My son Jake-who lives in Seattle, also started raising chickens this spring-that is what prompted me to enter this contest. Thanks again.

What kind of a cat is that in your avatar?? Looks like a beauty ! And big.

I have 2 house cats, one young longhair and an older shorthair, they loved to watch the chicks in their dog crate but never showed any prey drive towards them, I think they just enjoyed the constant show, I know that I did/do.

So, 7 Icelandics hatched so far, hmm, I got six, that makes 13, Mary is sending me 25, so that is 37, surely we have had more then that hatched this year ???

Jake! OMG! I just got back from the post office and Express Mail to your zip code is 2 days! I will be a raving lunatic in 2 days. I am glad I put heat packs in the box and grapes and sweet potatoes for the bigger ones. I'll PM the tracking numbers to you.

Oh, and one of the three remaining eggs is hatching right now. A blondie. OMG, not a lone chick, please......I candled the other two eggs. One looks like a dud and the other I can see trying to pip internally. Go chickie go. Don't leave me with just one!
