I reunited a few mamas back into their coops. My big blue Orp has not forgiven me, and gives me a "look" every time she sees me. Poor thing. Really, I do feel bad about it, too. She just looks awful, so pale and light weight. I am hoping she gets her weight and color back. I broke the Delaware when I moved her. Hope she stays broke.

The only broodies who are sitting now, and not yet hatched are:
4 Silkies (some in the process of hatching now)
2 Barred Rocks
1 New Hampshire
1 Kola
1 BLRW

So sorry, Mahonri!

Kathy, glad your broody numbers are lessening. Sometimes, they have to be broken up for their own good. They can literally starve themselves to death. And this heat! Geez! Last night, we had our first rain in a month. Cooled way down, thank goodness, but still, we're slated for the 90's for the foreseeable future here. I hate this heat. Not supposed to be this way up here in the mountains. Last summer was really awful, but it didn't start this early.

Not a good morning for the post office... So the website finally shows this morning that they arrived in Idaho Falls a few hours ago.. I didn't get a phone call this morning but since they're here, I just head to the PO... When I get there, the guy disappears into the back forever and finally comes back and says they are out on a truck but she is over on Lomax and I can meet her there... SERIOUSLY??? I drive over to Lomax and drive the street twice..no mail truck so I go back over to the PO.. The supervisor comes out and says he will find her and bring them to my house if I am heading home.. I'm back home now waiting for him to show up... NOT a happy camper and I will be calling Tami at the post office to complain.. Since when do they put live chicks on a truck for delivery?? AUGH!!!

Oh no Shawn! I was so hoping for good news. I guess I can't uncross my fingers and toes yet. It's been two full days for those babies!

The chicks are here!! and they are all still alive!! Most of them immediately started eating, drinking and being active... Unfortunately there are a few that are really weak... 3 chipmunks in particular.. I am doing sugar water in a syringe on them and will work with them for the next few hours and hopefully they'll get stronger..

I particularly love the little chocolate one Mary!! Can't wait to see how it feathers out!! I will keep you posted on progress today..
