Icelandic Chickens

I am relieved that they are there and still alive. Do you have any Pedialyte? I have had good luck using it with weak chicks instead of sugar water. They are pretty resilient. Hopefully they get better real soon.

Yay! The babies made it!

Hopefully the three will be ok.

I lost one... the other two seem to be doing better. I'll keep an eye on them the rest of the day but they all seem to be eating and drinking good.. Here's a picture of them in the newly hatched brooder.

I noticed one of the chipmunks has hairy legs...

There are a few of these that must have been from pullet eggs, they are so tiny... Especially one of the light blonde brown ones... just tiny but zipping around like a bumblebee.. it just has to be in the middle of whatever is going on... what a riot!!

They are starting to sleep now.. hopefully they'll all recharge now that they've got some nourishment and do great from here on out!!

Sorry Shawn. I'll bet the little blonde is the one that was so sick. It was honestly zipping around in the Brinsea the next morning when I got up. I never expected that. Well, I wish they had arrived sooner. I'll bet they would have been fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all the rest.

My Kola is so smart. Really, she is! I have not moved her out of the pen yet. She is on the nest, and when the other girls come in to lay their egg, Kola gets off the nest and does her daily deed ..... poops, eats, and drinks. Once they are done laying, she gets back on the nest.

I know I should move her, but I hate to. I enjoy watching her run out and getting her business done. If I put her in a broody pen, I will miss that. Besides that, she enjoys a quick dust bath, too.

Dilemma.
