Seinna, The Other Mary

Here is the brooder. I wanted to ---FINISH IT--- finish it, but I really really really needed my parking space back. It is getting hot. I also refrained from painting it, because I would have chosen "center-stripeyellow" or "hotpants pink" or something horrid. I *heart* reject paint from Home Depot.

When I come across some more expanded metal, I will replace the hardware cloth for you, Dar.

The front comes down for easy cleaning. I am also making some front doors for it, for later installation if needed. (Mahonri is super-tall, so he probably doesn't need them)

Just beautiful Laree!!!

Mary that pie looks so yummy!! Makes me want to try and make one, I am sure mine would not look or taste nearly as good.

Kelly yours sounds great too...That is my sons favorite.

I am just truly blessed and Laree and Hubby are so very talented in building and construction.

We'll be buying some paint for metal... probably gold or silver... I love it that much.

It's meant to be under a porch. You'd have to keep it 100% in the shade, after 8:30 am. Like the regular chickens in AZ.

I use the lettuce boxes from Costco in mine. ONe with shavings and and Ecoglow, one with shavings and dirt for dust bathing, and one with just dirt and the food jar. Keeps the chicks happy, and prevents them from tossing food out the bottom. Mahonri's is a bit shorter than mine, but better proportioned.

ETA: as long as the metal is not in direct sunlight, it will always be cooler to the touch than ambient air temperature. It is direct sun that will heat it up.
