Great news Mary on the surgery front, too bad M.C. fooled you. Will the boys brood eggs if you get them from someone else or do you have to have a girl "onsite" to trigger that? Maybe Dr. Speer would have eggs or a girl for you..........great to know your vet will be able to consult with him.

When I went into the the Famers Elevator to get feed, the office clerk there, Nancy, asked about the Icelandics. She took my Auburn Javas and we "talk chicken" whenever I go in. She said someone she knew was moving to Minnesota and wondered if the Icelandics would be a good choice for up there. I said they definitely would and I'd be happy to get her started!! She won't be moving until next spring so we'll see what happens. Ryan, maybe you'll have another Minnasnowtan with Icelandics!

I went over to Jan's house and got another pic of the Icelandic chicks her broody GLW (poor thing was the roos favorite and she is still regrowing feathers....he's been gone since March) hatched. They'll be coming here in a couple of weeks. Still thinking the two lighter ones are boys and hoping the brown is a girl!

Here's the one day old pic, taken June 3, to show how they've changed in two weeks:

If I had to guess, I'd say the one (in your 2nd pic) on the far right is a boy, based on stance.

I know they're a bit young to sex.....but you are the expert so I thought I'd ask!

The stance is the reason I thought the two lighter ones were boys. Even at one day old they were "cocky" with their stance....the brown chipmunky one seemed to want to be by mom and hide more. Time will tell.........

Here are some pics I took this morning.
