Icelandic Chickens

No, I did not candle at lockdown. I had too many eggs to move, and was afraid they would chill. I moved fast. I figured from candling last week, that was close enough.

So how many got moved for hatch? Good luck and may you be blessed with LOTS of crests!

I get home from a long day and my neighbor's dog is yelping it's darn head off. (that high pitch yelp too) They have no business having a dog - they keep them in a 8X8 kennel, I've never seen the poor things out of it. If my dog is barking, you can bet your rear end she's coming inside FAST! Maybe I should have left the window open on my coop to make sure they wake up early tomorrow!

49 Icelandic eggs in the hatcher. #3 is zipping. It looks dark colored.

My chickens are so far away from the house I can't hear rooster crowing in the mornings. Our neighbors are far enough away from them, too. Actually, one neighbor said he so enjoys having coffee on the deck in the mornings and listening to the roosters crow. Honestly, I don't think it is very noisy (rooster crowing) around here. But then, if they were near my bedroom window I might change my mind.

One neighbor recently moved and is renting her house out to a bunch of yahoos. They have a pit bull dog. I have warned them. I have never in my life shot a gun, but I will sure give it a try if I ever see that dog remotely near my property. I let them know I keep it near me at all times, too.
