@ Mahonri... you can get the Dickey in a 3x1 also. That is what I have. I got mine in March and have not turned it off since. Automatic turner, electronic thermostat with wafer backup. You can order with a 5 gallon reservoir. (bucket) that sits on top. There is a plugged hole that you could add water with a tube & funnel if you wanted. I just open it quick to add water or pull a tray etc. and have no problems. All prices are on the website. Mine was almost $700 with shipping. The customer service is beyond awesome. I spoke to Mr. Dickey himself to order and I called him when I got it and he walked me through setting up the wafer thermostat. (I am clueless) and also explained the whole operation of it etc. I am a satisfied customer. My only complaint is that I did not order the clear door..... I have a small window to peek through.....drives my CRaZy!
I have chicks hatching now and course have to peek in every 5 seconds

And as always..... I am enjoying this thread. Love the pictures and stories and stressing out with you all over hatches & shipping

You can buy the humidity pail for more $. I don't think it's necessary
unless you were going to be gone for an extended period. I put about
an inch of water in the pan every three days, but could fill it I guess since
humidity is about surface area. It recovers temps and humidity very
quickly, regardless.

Yes. They also make a 3 x 1.

I think it was about 100.00 less than the comparable Sportsman.
I choose it because I heard and read such great things about
the customer service, though....

So sorry for those of you not having good hatches. I 2nd Mary's opinion of the Brinsea spot check thermometer. I've had much better hatches since I got it - it's super accurate.

I have to stop going to the feed store. They are always slipping something in on my order! Look what just happened!

A pair of white crested ducklings got put in my car.

Kelly, the layer pellets are $4 less per bag than the Flockraiser. If you go get some, be careful you don't come home with ducks. They are sneeky that way.

I'm usually a candle-aholic but this time I just didn't have time.

On a more positive note, I finally found the camera with the video capabilities (it was hidden in the bottom of my laptop bag and I looked everywhere BUT there

) So now I can take some videos of my Icelandic's antics. They are so fun to watch. I'm amazed at hose different they behave, very different than the layers, even though they are all raised together. They have their own way of doing things.
