Icelandic Chickens

Wouldn't you rather play with your chickens or go swimming? Surely there's something else to do. (can you tell painting is my favorite activity?) I've had paint sitting in my dining room for over a year now. The living room and dining room are done. Still have to do the kitchen and 3 bedrooms.

My chickens are out by about 5:45 right now (automatic door with light sensor) and at about 8PM they are heading for their roosts - everyone is usually in by 8:15, dark after 9PM.

I don't know what did it, but we cooled off for a bit last night! Thunderstorms moved through and it brought temps down to about 85. Wonderful!!! Todays high forecast is only 98. I am thrilled! I hope everyone gets some cool down.

My chickens are different I guess. My teens are usually in bed while I still have a couple adults running around. @ 9pm

It's been one of those days, I've been trying to send this message since 6:30 this morning. It's now 11:30.

<sigh>

Mary, I candled this morning, most aircells are a bit jiggly, and a few have bubbles in them (they look a little like champaign

) I put them all in the incubator anyway, who knows how they will turn out but 19-ish days and counting

After all the trauma of the car accident and then US Postal service, any that hatch will be Super Hero Icelandics. I wonder where I can find a cape and tights in their size?

Got these 9 chicks from Meg to put under my Blue Wheaten broody.

1 FBCM from my egg
2 Trader Joes
1 ICELANDIC from my eggs
5 Ameraucanas from my eggs

They are in the LareeBrooder, I had them on that sheet but she was just upset so I put them all in one of the tubs that she gave me for underneath and she calmed right down and enjoyed life.

... and none of them are underneath her because it's 105 outside... but there is icewater in the waterer.
