Hi Sue

these worked ! Now I just got to find a translator !

I am fairly serious though on wanting to visit there and talk to some folks who can fill me in on more of the history and development of the breed. I am really interested in what the management was for them on the small farms before the past century. There is a huge amount to learn about them.

Blau is young, but the oldest roo that I have and I love his temperament, he is the flock boss and a benign monarch. Isi Isison is more of an enforcer, but not unless Blau lets him. The last group of roos coming on are getting a lot of pressure by the roos in between them and the 2 older roos. I tend to think this is flock behavior of dominant roos chasing off immature up and coming roos. In 4 weeks four of these will be in Boise. Or heading there.

Jake... all you have to do is use Google Chrome to open those websites... It will inform you that they are in Icelandic and ask if you would like them translated... not a perfect translation but definitely good enough to read through the majority...

Hiya

Thats better then nothing for sure!

I wonder what the chances are of scheduling a small tour from this thread to go to Iceland, meet Johanna and some of the other breeders, go to the Island and meet the folks there, I think it could bear a lot of fruit ! Maybe even try to get permits to bring some eggs back, from the club members or the station?

I would really like to get some photos of the old farms where the Icelandic Chickens were raised.

Diana wants to wish everyone a happy Back-to-School! She just turned three, so she's like a gifted kindergartner. All my animals are gifted.

I am getting antsy and want to get going, I want to be there and get settled in before the heavy snows start, its measured in feet out there not inches. That said, its a great place to be. I plan to get up a shed like Kathys first, a combo for the Chickens and the goats,

any more pics of that one Kathy??

My flock is all outside , ranging around, I see them eating little of the feed outside, they seem to eat more at night or in the morn in the chicken house, they are getting a LOT of their feed as they range around. Right now I am putting less then half in their feeders then before they were ranging .
