I will go through my pictures and see what I have. I have been working the last few days and haven't had time. I have a super busy schedule this week. My daughter moved out of the guest house (and left a mess!) and I have to get it cleaned up for guests coming on Wednesday, too.

OHHHHHH, I must share my excitement with you all ..... non-Icelandic related

I have been working a project to create my own strain of Delawares. My F1s are laying and I have the first F2 eggs in the hatcher. I came home from work this morning and I have 6 pips! I am soooooooo excited to see the F2s. There will be 7 different possibilities hatching; Barred; Black; Delaware; Split gold/silver males; Buff Columbian; Barred Buff Columbian & Silver Columbian (the last will be pullets)
in the ratios 18:6:3:2:1:1:1

I need only the Delaware males and the Silver Columbian pullets to create the F3s. It may take awhile with those ratios! But, I am on my way!

By the way, I am loving all the pictures! I will get caught up here very soon!

2 out of 18?!?!

I think the caption should have Asta saying "Look at the camera kids!" and the little one looking at the backward two saying "Mom.......they're mooning the camera!!"

I am counting down, 17 days to go, really getting antsy and ready to go right now, still got a days packing in the house, and a few things to finish on the trailer. Its a traveling barn which is why I named it Jakes Ark. A chicken house and a goat barn, on wheels, I should have painted it barn red but I thought that the dark cabin finish would make it look more like an ark. Maybe it needs a ships wheel on the back gate ??

Just 52 at 8am, was much cooler, surprisingly the temps in Cusick are warmer this week then here. I just want to miss the first snow going over the Rockys.

Keep the good photos and storys coming folks, this is the best show in town !

Thank you all for your support in this venture of mine. This first hatch of F2s has just been so exciting for me. I'm grateful I have all of you to share this with.

I have 18 F2s hatched. 8 light and 10 dark. Two dark chicks in the first picture are not F2s and are banded.
One more is zipping now and appears will be dark.

My plan, at this point, is to rehome all the dark chicks. I just don't need them, and really don't have extra room just to watch them grow. I will keep hatching and doing the same thing for awhile.

I will need to watch the light ones grow out to see what they are. To move forward, to the F3s (which should result in 100% Delawares), I need the Delaware (males) and the Silver Columbian (females) from this hatch.
