As soon as I move them all to the same place. They are hatching in the Brinsea Advance, get moved to the Brinsea ECO to dry and fluff, then onto a plastic tub brooder on the floor. It's my version of a hatchery!
21 hatched, 1 zipping, one pipped, one a quitter I think! Tomorrow is hatch day but I think all I'll be doing is cleaning and disinfecting the Brinseas and putting them away! No really unusual colors in this batch so saying goodbye will be easier. I think I'll ask DH to put the Brinseas up in the rafter storage over the barn coop in the farthest back corner. And cover them with a tarp and tie downs. Until New Year's of course.
Mary loved the videos! The goats are beautiful! And I loved the grey broody with the big topknot. I was pleased to see that the black and gray roo has a comb just like my new roo does. Its kind of like two long rows and a short row in the middle. He is my first icelandic and I am supposed to get four hens and another roo in Oct. So far I am really likeing the breed. My roo is the funnyiest chicken I have ever had, like a big silly juvenile boy that he is!

Welcome! I am glad you are enjoying your Icelandic. They are such fun birds. Everyone here I think has one that stands out a character for one reason or another. Mine is a serial broody and my original Icelandic mix is an escape artist extraordinaire. I think everyone has one or two of those too! Thanks for the kind words about my animals. I just love them all. A cranky neighbor with whom we had issues when we moved in, stopped by yesterday to apologize for her behavior back then. She wanted me to know how much joy they get watching the emus race them down the dirt road (on our side of the fence of course). She said when her husband does chores along the fence that borders our properties they keep him company. Happy animals are therapeutic.
