Well I'm done breeding chickens.
Got a letter of complaint from the city. NO ROOS allowed.
So Laree... if you want all of my Icelandics including the two roos, they are yours. I wish I could keep them, but if I can't have a roo, they may as well go to someone who can breed them.
I'm going to pick out my best 20 layers and then pray that I can keep those. No more Ameraucana roos, no more Marans roo.
I doubt I'll get a lick of sleep before they come to inspect. (Letter was dated Aug. 31st and they said someone would be by to inspect before the 10th) Didn't open the letter until 9PM this evening... went to Home Depot and bought some rolls of grass and set it out on the north lawn. A friend will help me tear down and haul away my Icelandic and Marans pens on Monday... Labor on Labor Day.
Then the chickens will go to those who come to pick them up on Monday morning or else I will be taking them to my cousins farm in West Phoenix or to a friends farm in Mesa.
I should have the back yard looking REALLY nice by the time the day is done on Monday.
Guess I can still run the NYD and Easter Hatches... I just won't be participating.... that or we can just have Nifty call them the BYC NYD and Easter Hatches.
I have to have all but 20 chickens gone by Tuesday morning as I have no idea when they'll come by to inspect and I can't afford a fine.
se la vi... que sera, sera.... if it's my back yard neighbors, them I'm totally done.
