We have a pip!

In other news... The barn is getting all it's utilities this weekend. The best BIL in the whole wide world is here with his trencher. He's staying the whole weekend so we can get it all done. I'm tired already and we've only just begun.

Well I'm done breeding chickens.

Got a letter of complaint from the city. NO ROOS allowed.
So Laree... if you want all of my Icelandics including the two roos, they are yours. I wish I could keep them, but if I can't have a roo, they may as well go to someone who can breed them.

I'm going to pick out my best 20 layers and then pray that I can keep those. No more Ameraucana roos, no more Marans roo.

I doubt I'll get a lick of sleep before they come to inspect. (Letter was dated Aug. 31st and they said someone would be by to inspect before the 10th) Didn't open the letter until 9PM this evening... went to Home Depot and bought some rolls of grass and set it out on the north lawn. A friend will help me tear down and haul away my Icelandic and Marans pens on Monday... Labor on Labor Day.

Then the chickens will go to those who come to pick them up on Monday morning or else I will be taking them to my cousins farm in West Phoenix or to a friends farm in Mesa.

I should have the back yard looking REALLY nice by the time the day is done on Monday.

Guess I can still run the NYD and Easter Hatches... I just won't be participating.... that or we can just have Nifty call them the BYC NYD and Easter Hatches.

I have to have all but 20 chickens gone by Tuesday morning as I have no idea when they'll come by to inspect and I can't afford a fine.

se la vi... que sera, sera.... if it's my back yard neighbors, them I'm totally done.

Dar, I'm so sorry to hear that you have to go through this.

I hope you accomplish everything you need to to meet the requirements. I'm sure Laree could give you some fertile eggs to hatch for the NYD and Easter hatches, it wouldn't be the same without your manicness!!

Hopefully, someday, you'll be able to have a place where no one can tell you how many chickens or roos you can have!!

Oh no Mahonri! I am so sorry. Do you have new neighbors who would have complained? As long as you have had them, it would seem like the old neighbors would have already complained if they were going to. Have you checked to code and verified that they aren't allowed? I would be so bummed out. I hate when I can't do something I want to do on my own property. I am limited to 100 chickens here and that is probably a good thing. I wish I had some suggestions or something that would help. Maybe have your roos hang out at Laree's until after the inspection. Maybe if you agree to only keep one or two they will allow it. I will say a little prayer.
