Icelandic Chickens

Here's one of Miss Polaris and babies on the top roost. The older hens start coming in for the night and she decides to move the family for safety. Watch how she does it.

Here's one of the "quail girls" on alert. I really need to get these youngsters named!!

And one of Bara, my renamed little girl (lil sis) that hatched from the eggs Mary sent me. I think she looks like your Cara, Mary!

Well, so much for moving the incubators up into the farthest-most corner of the rafter storage. I just got a request for chicks for an Icelandic re-enactment village that travels to Renaissance Fairs all over the Midwest. I couldn't say no that! The birds they have been using all came from Lyle Behl's line. I should offer them Stella too. This gig is right up her alley!

Was Pretty Boy the sire of those chicks? Who were the main sires that you used this year? Isi and Pretty Boy or others?

Besides Isison I have another looking like him that I think will be a near clone of him. Right now though he is getting off at Boise. Along with a couple of the former dark chipmunks. They are really shaping up well.

Good lucky on your Viking Reenactors ! Thats REALLY getting authentic !!

I don't know if Pretty Boy was the baby daddy for which of the eggs. I gave them all eggs out of the incubator. I know he had a mad crush on Miss Polaris but as with the other girls, she hates his guts. He does have a couple of girls that tolerate him now. I have a video of him wing dancing one girl.
He is not such a loner any more. He is really good about going out at sunset and rounding up any stranglers.I like that. Isi goes to sleep early. I am being Baa'd at bigtime so I better go feed the whiners.
