Jake, can I be a little bit jealous? Maybe I should have hidden in your trailer when you left

psst! drop them off at my place.... white blue laced ones are very valuable..

Sorry Rachel, I cannot even get close to them!
I can see it now, they will be on my cabin, poking holes through the pen nets..........honking & doing their big mEEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWWW calls.....
They are beautiful.
DH saw the whole thing go down, so he has the truck description.
What a jerk to just dump animals off !
Especially one that can become established.
There is an island in Clearlake (Northern California) called rattlesnake island, off the shores of Clearlake Oaks.
And years ago someone dumped off peafowl..and now the island is infested with the birds and you can hear them honking & calling for a mile.
Don't see why that wouldn't happen here in the wetlands sanctuary across the street.

And my Icelandics look great!
I honestly cannot see any signs of wry tail.
Occasionally, for balance, they will hold their tails catty-whompus as Kathy said earlier, but that's all.
I think they have grown into their tails.

Where to display but AT a show?
It is a great idea!
There is 2 coming up here that I want to enter a few birds in, so maybe we can display some Icelandics to stir up interest?
Check out the web site for 'Washington Faether Fanciers' and book mark it.
The 2 shows I refer to are up coming at Chehalis, and then later (March?) at Monroe.
They are alot of fun, lots of BYCers will be there too.

The birds got across the street to our side & were roosting in an apple tree this morning.
Bet they are getting hungry & thirsty...makes me so angry!
Lots dump cats/kittens & last year, someone dumped off, or moved & left, 2 very very old dogs that could barely walk.
Sad!

Hi Robin

There are way too many people who have no business having any kind of animals !

So what kind of feed are you putting out for the peafowl??

You know that you want to

I would too, I will be feeding the deer locally this season and winter, I enjoy watching them.

I dont think I will be able to participate in any shows this year but sure hope to next year, display only, a couple pairs maybe. It could only help.

Many interested , we shall see what the commitment is, I dont sell any, in fact placed mine each at cost to me, but they are very well placed right now.

The sun is breaking though the fog now, looks like a nice fall day could happen.

Yup, I feed the critters, I enjoy watching them, but I dont shoot those I feed, unethical for one thing, but it would be like shooting family. When I hunt its well away. And I hunt for the freezer, get it done and in. But will have deer feed out and bird feeders and who knows what else ?

Chances are pretty good next year with current plans that I will have quite a few candidates fo the freezer club, other breeds project birds. Not sure on that yet. There are 3 other breeds that I would like to keep a few of, 8-10 pullets and a couple of roos. One might be a project, it all depends on how the time works out. I am going to be doing a lot with the goats next year in hiking and then packing. So its all got to mesh together.

Two of the breeds will be requiring quite a bit of selection so there would be candidates for the freezer for sure.

Hillbilly you could have ridden out in the trailer , yup yup, the goats would have loved the company !!

Today I am laying out the ground plan for the new shed, winter is coming.

Kelly, how is the Welsummer egg laying machine working?
wink.png

I heard a strange noise yesterday. One of my chickens was making a racket, MY (from my deceased birds) Welsummer hen was singing the egg song.
