Icelandic Chickens

Congratulations Daron, getting them off those rafters couldnt have been fun, you really got a workout !

I am glad you got the bantam too, she is a special pet of Lois's, she is concerned about all of her critters.

I do hope they can get the others down to Lansing, now you have some extra roosters to swap, but, you really should plan on keeping at least three for the diversity.

You've got a good start, those are from Mary and Mary

Mary in Ind sent me the white splash roo egg. And the very dark roo in the egg, the others are from the Sheriff.

Thanks Jeremy I am aware of that one but I decided to go a different route. I am probably going to trade one of my boys for one of the two girls that I DNA tested recently. We are just working out the details now.

Seriously thinking about it. We would really like a pair and the more I read I realize that they mate in pairs and there can be fighting and problems if there are more males than females. Plus as they get humongous I realize that two is plenty! It will be really hard to do but the person who bought the two girls also wants a pair and the DNA testing is done on all four so it just makes sense. Not a done deal yet. She lives 45 minutes from me and it would be a real easy transfer. She has the girls in a one and a half acre pasture now but plans to move them to a four acre pasture soon. So he would not be penned and would have room to run and a real girlfriend to dance with instead of his brother! Both pairs would be unrelated which is really good.

Is this the wrong thing to do? I have a post on the emu thread asking for opinions.

Ok, here are the pictures taken this morning from my cellphone, so the pictures are not that great, but you can get an idea what they look like.

It rained at my house last night, and hit freezing at one point. So I guess you could stretch the truth and say it snowed in Phoenix last night.

That sounds like a great deal, Mary! Then you would both have a pair. Win-win situation!

Raining like crazy here; all day yesterday, all night, and still raining today. Enough already....
My birds are not real happy staying inside. They run outside for a second and run right back in.

New nests in the Icelandic pen have all been tested out. No eggs yet, but they are all taking turns testing them.

Oh stay clear of the mooses in rut!
I remember we had one years ago that attacked our (then) giant satellite dish, knocked it right out of the concrete base, no TV for weeks~~~~~~~~~
I also saw a bull attack a guy's brand new (no license plate yet) ford Pick Up truck about Old Town area....the bull gorged big holes in the side of the truck & almost tipped it over.
Guess he hates fords
