Be careful now. Be VERY VERY careful, or you just may be the recipient of a package in the mail yourself!

I was checking out my Bachelor's Pad today..... 20 boys in there, and I believe I am comfortable culling down to 10.

Mary,
Those are great pictures of the feather shanked kids! Those are some heavy duty socks they are wearing!

Raven is finally laying, huh?! Maybe she will be nice now.

Kelly and I are thinking it might not be raven's egg because of the size. Skye has been pacing the fence line for two days trying to get back over to the other side to lay an egg so she may have just dropped it in the coop floor when she finally went in at night.

Are you shipping 10 roos to Jake? That outta hold him over for the winter!

I have deer running all over my property right now including a huge eight point buck!

From what I've seen, I'm certainly no expert:

It appears in the first generation of a pure feathered shanked bird bred to a clean shanked bird that you will get feathered shanks. Now mating that feathered shanked offspring, they are not pure for feathered shanks, so it becomes recessive.

I had a multiple generation olive egger rooster with feathered shanks which I mated to 2 clean shanked olive egger pullets. 2 babies hatched, one with clean shanks and one with heavy shank feathering.

Clear as mud, right?

Hmmmm, yes, 10 should hold him over til spring. Ohhhhh, and can they ever sing, too! Bonus for Jake.... he gets a choir!

8 points buck? Wow! You just gotta try to get a picture of that boy!
We have so many leaves, the deer can be heard walking, as they rustle the leaves.

More then 6 cockerals I dont know if they would fit in the freezer, but ya never know !

I will know a whole lot more this time next year on the feathered shanks then I do now, I dont think that it is a simple dominant or recessive.

Well, you know jake, all those cockerals will keep you mighty warm.
On the other hand, you do not need a freezer where you are.
Just remember where they are buried in the snow.
Maybe tie a string on them.

A friend of mine there in Cusick quarters his deer & buries them in the snowfall under the eaves of his house.

I'll try to get a picture of the big bucks tomorrow.

Sunday morning, Molly goose started to make a racket, so we looked out side, saw a buck at the end of the meadow. The ducks were very wary, but the little alpine goat was very interested! She slowly crossed the meadow to get a closer look, but he wandered off, a doe behind him!

Do you think he'll be back Mary?

Jake, how's the goat house coming? Did you get the stuff up the driveway? BTW, how many goats do you have and what kind?

We only have 2, for now.

But we got the goat house finished, roof is shingled, just need to paint the trim. Oh, and maybe put some artwork inside, so they don't get bored staying inside this winter.
