Icelandic Chickens

Hi ya'll, I haven't been on in a while, but when I got on today and was looking at the new format, found our beloved Icelandics rated at 44th and only a couple of reviews! I though you all might want to jump on that quick and boost the ratings on our favorite fowl!

Kelly, Mary wants to keep you in the house to prevent any more chicks from disappearing! That's the real reason for putting the brooders right by the window.....so she can keep an eye on you when you visit!!!

If she's getting a cabinet incubator, she's going to need a whole lot more stealin'.

It's been a busy, but wonderful day. I got to spend an hour visiting with Joyous. She is going to be a great addition to this Icelandic preservationist group. She safely received Daron's eggs yesterday and took home 32 from my flock. She'll be keeping us updated on how they progress.

I've got to go close-up the coop but I'll be back..................

Thanks so much Mary for welcoming me to this wonderful breed and trusting me with your precious eggs! And thanks to Farmerboy 16 for mailing those eggs so quickly. I will keep you all posted on their progress! ....Honey I need another coop.......lol

Wow, she's absolutely gorgeous!

I can always count on this thread to make me laugh!

Told Joyous that I'd post a picture of Elska today..........so here she is:
I hope she hatches one just like her!

What a beautiful hen!!! I am going to be staring at my incubator for the next 21 days!!!!!!
Thanks Kelly and Joy! She has quite the fan club!! I'll be able to get some really nice pictures of her starting next week.........she'll be out of the Nursery/Hospital coop and into the main coop when I rearrange everyone later today. She'll be happy but everyone else is going on a rotational schedule for outdoor time and they aren't going to like it too much! They'll each have a run but they love their freedom.......

The Other Mary - What a gorgeous girl.

My ice mixes are feathering out with some really great colors, I'll try and get some pics this weekend while we are out there working.

In order to separate the Icelandics we have to finish the third pen which means building the other saw horse feeder we copied from The Sheriff and roll out nest boxes like Opa's. I also want to haul out some old base cabinets that I have so I can set up my hatching station similar to what The Sheriff is doing, my baby brooder is living on the saw horses we need for the construction project.

Of course, I don't have to screen in the porch but I do have to make a path through knee deep snow and break the gates out of the ice to get the 6-wheeler from the house to the barn with said cabinets... Never a dull moment :D
