Icelandic Chickens

Thank you, joyous!

According to what Mary told me when she was incubating hers.............you shouldn't be turning anymore, but you need to pull them out every day and tap on the eggs and whistle to them to have the egg rock.

Mary said this encourages them to hatch. She also said that emu's don't pip with an egg tooth like a chicken - they use the back of their neck and push with their feet to bust the shell.

How long can I leave them out of the bator? How often do I do this? I just did this, and egg A is dancing up a storm. Egg B seems slower, but seems to be moving (Mike thinks so, anyway).

Relax Kathy! I took mine out 2-3 times a day for up to five minutes, tapped them, talked to them, whistled at them, and took video of them. One of the test to check if an egg has a live chick in it is to leave them out for five minuets. An egg without a live chick will cool down fast and a live one will stay warm. I was in the room the morning Elvis pipped. It was a loud cracking sound! I thought something broke and it had!

They are slow hatchers!

I have to work Friday night...... I guess I could take it to work with me.
