Icelandic Chickens

mimddh what a neat way to see who is a male and who is not. What adorable turkeys. Too cute to eat.
Unfortunately at this age both males and females will display like that so you still have to wait to know for sure.

They also don't stay that cute so it gets easier to eat them when they look like this:

Especially if they're mean like this one. See him trying to sneak up on me?

my little chick has a gimp. she seems fine otherwise but hoping around. a little worried but I can not see a injury.

Probably just jammed it jumping down from a roost or something. Give it a few days and it will probably get better. I have had a full grown hen limping, and she was fine a few days later.

Cute Kathy! I need to feed mine more fruits and veggies. They loved them as babies but not so much now. But they do have pasture and eat grass and clover all day so maybe that's why. I hope little Fred's leg keeps getting better!

Chick alert!!

Anna and her five new chicks..........one is not an Icelandic.....it's a Lavendar Ameraucana from my friend's eggs.....in the second picture, it's one one on the upper left.

Hmmm - what is she using to get the lavender? It doesn't look like mine did. Maybe it's not showing up in this picture but they do have a blue grey tint to them.
