Hey all! I recently posted about a chicken that had icicles sticking out of her butt, and…, well…, it happened again. I’m including a pic just so you all can see. Is there anything I can do to help my poor girl? I brought her in the house and she’s warming up and I gave her some water but otherwise I haven’t touched her. Any tips? Has anyone else seen this?

It looks like she has passed a shelless egg membrane that has gotten stuck. Her toes look suspicious for possible frostbite. Try to gradually warm her and see if the object can gently be pulled out. What are your low temperatures, and do your chickens have a warm coop out of the wind with thick bedding to keep warm? Can you get a close upof her feet at some point? I was just rereading your earlier thread about her, and has she been eating and drinking?

I don’t know!! I just got back from a Christmas celebration and haven’t been home for five days. By the way I should have clarified, this is a different chicken than the first time around. Yes, she has a nice, warm coop and shavings, but not a lot because I live in Minnesota, and the temps have been so low that I can’t clear the poop out of their indoor portion of their coop. Our lows have been in the single and sometimes negative digits, but our coop is warm and no other chickens have had problems(excluding the one I left outside😬) I will get a picture of her feet asap

GUYS!!! I went to clean her off like you said and her ovaries were hanging out! I cleaned them off and put the back inside her but I don’t know if they will stay!
