I am getting a new batch of chicks. I have tried Dunlaps hatchery, seemed ok except for one of the four chicks turned out a rooster when we ordered females all. I have been thinking about tractor supply... any thoughts?

Fellow Idahoan here!

Dunlap is a good hatchery in my experience. I trust it completely. Vent sexing is tricky and just about any store or hatchery, including Dunlap, has a 90 percent accuracy. It's absolutely normal to get a boy or two and can be expected in every batch. I can't remember a batch of chicks I got with out at least one rooster. So I would say go with Dunlap.

You can also get chicks from D&B Supply, though they get their chicks from Dunlap. ZamZows normally has chicks too, and they get their chicks from D&B. Normally from D&B and ZamZows they're cheaper but you don't have as much of a variety of chicks.

Have fun choosing chicks!

Cant stand tractor supply. Weird rules. Mostly straight run here. Pricey. I like ideal, strombergs,
