Idaho?

So I am looking into local sources for chicken feed. Is anyone willing to share what they are feeding their layers? Where you're purchasing it and how much you're paying?

i get my feed at the feed mill in Meridian.. about 15-16 dollars 50lbs but they also will sell 25lbs for half the price and there feed is really good.. and at times if i dont have the time to make it to meridian i do go to D&B in Gardencity and get feed there once in a while when i have coupons for there food

My dad gets our chicken feed from D&B and get a 50lb bag of Nutrena Layer feed (we use the pellets right now but next bag we buy I want to try the crumbles and see if they waste less), he pays anywhere from $16.99 to $18 something for their feed. Hope this helps.
I wasted much more with the crumbles, actually.

Hello! Idaho here as well and a newbie! :) Glad to have found were all the others are at!

Welcome!!!

I don't know about the DE. I've never bought it and never asked about it. That is where I get my fee. It's only $26 for a 100lb bag of layer feed.
Really!! That's cheaper than Jack Thomas here in IF... I would have to do a complicated math formula to see if it's worth the drive to save the money...hmmm they are charging $24 for an 80lb bag right now... I also supplement with the game bird feed from CAL Ranch....

I thought so, too.. I like the pellets...

The weather was soooo nice today!!! almost done getting the runs/coops cleaned out.. so nice to get that done!! And my garden loves all the compost, too!!

Wanted to share a pic of my older EE chicks, I really like how they are feathering out... they are from my sexlink hens covered by Blue Wheaten Ameracauna roo... a couple are from a Leghorn cross EE hen...

Well, its only $2 for 20 more lbs. I drive all the way from Rexburg to get it. What is the protein % in the stuff from Jack Thomas?

We had so much fun at the feed mill today! They were really nice and have good prices and a clean operation. Here are some pictures. They are pictures of the tour, but also some feed prices and information. I am sure that they have more, but I was there with two small children, so I only got so much information. It's super pic heavy, so hopefully it's not a problem.

This is where they fill the bags and sew them shut. It's the same sewing machine they have always used.

This is the rolled corn. They have it set out to dry so that they don't have to use mold inhibitor in their feed.

This is the below ground feed mixer.

This is the scale for the feed mixer. You cannot see him in this picture, but they have a guy who mixes all of the feeds and puts in the vitamins by hand.

Some kind of ladder shaft.

This is the pellet machine.

These are lamb feed pellets that are still warm from being put through the machine. He pulled it out for the kids to feel.

The red building is the corn room. This building was original to the factory when it was built in the early 1900's.

This is where the grain used to be dumped when it was delivered by truck.

This is an old lift that was used to help get the grain out of the trucks before hydraulic dump trucks were around.

This is a scale that measured the trucks before and after dumping the grain.

My daughter called this a giant cup.

Current feed specials.

If you can read it right, the 50lb bags of chick and poultry grit are $6 a bag.

Information about all of their feeds.
