Idaho?

It is cool knowing that there are chicken people in Idaho, we go there often. When we go to Montana, we take the one highway that goes through Kellogg, forgot what highway it is, but somewhere in Idaho, I always spot 3 chicken coops along the way, I wonder if the owners are members on BYC, it is always fun driving along and shouting "LOOK, CHICKENS!!!"

Hi all, I'm new to the group. I live in Boise out toward Kuna. I grew up in Kimberly... Small town. My parents had chickens when I was little and now I just got my first batch this spring from MM, 25 +1 bargan special. It is fun to watch them grow, and boy do they grow fast!!!

Hi all you Idahoans
I am new here and love this forum. I live in Parma on the Oregon boarder. I just got 25 (ended up with 28) of the Rainbow layers from Meyer. I am having so much fun watching then and trying to figure out what they all are. I have grown chickens for years but haven't had any now for a while.
I can sit and watch then for hours. It is very relaxing for me.

Glad to know there are others from Idaho here.
Micki who is waiting for the weather to change again back to warm..........

I just moved to Idaho last year. I live in Kuna. I LOVE it. I am never leaving Idaho. The people are SO friendly, the cost of living is way cheaper than Oregon, where we lived before. And I love the agricultural character of the area! So many people have small farms and livestock. Chickens are a hot commodity right now. I guess people are tired of paying for eggs.

We use to live in Boise, where My wife & I were married 30 yr ago, her parents still live in Boise near the fair grounds, I use to work for Hallmark palnt in Napa & Zamzos in Meridian for a couple of yrs, is it still there. My mother's family is from Salmon, I miss it alot but the state is not big enough for my wife & her mother, so we are looking at moving to the mid-west. o well better than So. Ca.

hehe ~ If you're in Shelley, then I'm about 5 minutes away from you in IF. So cool to see someone so close!!

For the folks looking at Idaho to live in ~ This HAS to be God's country, cuz we get all 4 seasons, ( Usually on any given day too, whether it's Christmas or the 4th of July!) In fact, they have a saying around these parts goes like this :"if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it'll change".

Plus, we DO have some absolutely breathtaking backcountry ~ if you love hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting, Idaho is a little paradise. And the folks are friendly, living is cheap, ( although it HAS gone up, due I believe to the whole corn-ethanol issue) & the towns are small-ish. Where I live, we still have parades, the fair is a big hit, and kids still get off at harvest time to help bring in the spuds. All that, and we do have some decent shopping. {:>)=

Nice to meet someone who lives so close! What kind of chickens do you have? I have Speckled Sussex and Salmon Faverolles, along with an easter egger and new hampshire red hens, and a black orpington rooster (well, he's only 10 weeks old but I have high hopes for him.)
