Idaho?

Ohhh... love those SLWs, they are sooo pretty... but I am filled up with my birdies right now!!

I have had good luck on CL when I ask for money for my birds... even the roos...

For hatchery type birds and barnyard mix birds, I asked $10 for hens, $5 for roos, always have sold them...

For a little better quality $15-20, also no problem, but I don't claim that they are breeder stock or anything, either...

Also... if ya'll don't mind...

I entered one of the NYDH contests.. for most ingenious chicken product, I entered the water heaters we made... link in my siggy..., it's contest #4...

if you like it, please vote for me!!

That is about what I have charged for birds as well... $10-15 for average hens.. $5 for roosters.. I have gone as high as $30 on the better birds (and turned down bigger money on ones I didn't want to sell LOL)

Voted for you Mesha! Hope you win!! Course, 7 eggs isn't hardly even worth messing with.... LOL

Those hen prices sound good to me. But I have had a terrible time finding homes for cockerels regardless of quality, I end up trying to give them away for free and still cannot find homes for them. I finally have accumulated a few names of local people who like to take the roosters, and the last 4 or 5 I have had I just call the same people and they will take them. I feel like they are doing me a favor because I can never find homes for them when I post them on ksl. Good thing is I have met a few farmers that use them for breeding, so if i ask for chicks or hatching eggs from the really nice roosters to try for more girls, they are great to send some my direction.

Happy NY everybody! Pawtraitart, your new chick setup sounds great, I can't wait til you have chickies, hooray! Daloorashens, waiting impatiently to hear how your hatch goes. Best of luck! I have some due 1/9..crossing fingers! Some of the babies will be FBCM chicks from the stock I got from you last Spring Michelle, so I really hope they make it :) So far so good ;)

It is -1 degree here right now, and I realized I was going to take more feed out this afternoon and had not done it. Sooo I ran out there real quick and I am FROZEN! Hoping the girls are snuggling up out there! This kind of cold I can do without. Stay warm everyone!

400

These are 3 of eight eggs that my girls have given me over the last couple days. The blue one is from one of my americauna's, the bigger brown one is from Wilma but I have no clue what hen laid the smaller brown one. Anybody have any ideas as to which hen layed it?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the rooster. Do you actually need a rooster to get eggs?

Heck no, just if you want fertile eggs. The hens will lay regardless, but if you wanted to incubate or hatch out eggs, it won't happen without a roo in the flock.
