Well, I may be looking for eggs again soon. The automatic turner dumped all my eggs. No cracks that I can see, but they probably got a good jolt.

I definitely wouldn't give up on them yet... Eggs have gone through a lot and still hatched. Give them a week and then candle them, I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised with how many survive!!

I'm not giving up yet. It just makes me mad. At first it wasn't turning them at all, then it dumped them twice. Aren't turners supposed to make it so I DON'T have to check on eggs every hour? I took it apart and put it back together and I think it's working now. Can someone post a picture of their turner motor up close? I want to make sure it's right. The only instructions I found for the turner were for removing it before lockdown.

I am just going to put this out there....I HATE my turner, and don't use it. I just roll them back and forth a few times day, I have had way better hatch rates with them the old fashioned way, on their sides, gently rolled. With huge batches a turner sure does come in handy. Especially if you are gone all day. But I really really dislike them

I have two incubators that are running without turners. I took them out....not because I was having trouble with them, but because I can stuff waaaaay more eggs in there without them. LOL

So I finally got my eggs set in the new incubator tonight... took over an hour to get them all in... LOL 25.5 dozen in all

I may have to do the same, my bator is full and some people are sending me eggs this week, too, ACK!! Anyone have an extra bator I can borrow for 3 weeks??

I use the turner b/c I am too busy right now to get them turned, I would do an experiment with not turning, but I have shipped eggs with detached cells that I REALLY want to hatch, so I prefer them upright in the turner.... not brave enough to try it without turning yet with those silly things

Yah, I like having a turner because then I can hide the incubator out of reach of my 4 and under crowd, lock the door, and not worry about whether I have turned them enough if the baby is demanding of my attention all day.

I'm sure the classroom that borrowed the incubator before I got it had something to do with it not working. They lost the plastic liner and thermometer too.

Reassure me here. All the thermometers next to the eggs say 99 but the floating one I put in the water jar says 85? Perhaps because I just put it in there a couple hours ago after finding out what a water wiggler is.

Humidity just putting the water in the designated spot was at 95% when I tested it for 2 days before switching to the jar.

I have extra olive egger chicks if anybody is looking. I have gold wheaten and golden cuckoo olive egger babies.

How is it that even tho I will have some chicks hatching on Monday, I still want to come get some of your chicks, Michelle?? Seriously now, sheesh!!

Squeaky... is your humidity really 95% in your bator?? That is too high, or is that the temp??

I also have short people and don't want to have to worry about egg crashing disasters, so the bators are in a locked room where I can forget about them most of the day, lol

The answer is....the same reason that I can have chicks hatching, chicks in the brooders, and young birds in grow out pens and I'm still tempted every time I go into Cal Store and see that they have chicks. As if I need more! Chickens are so addictive.
