Idaho?

ROLOIdaho, pawtraitart, are on here from Idaho, and DMRippy is another one I have gotten eggs from. Daloorashens started with them last year too

these people will definitely know, you should hit them up with any questions about winter hardiness and what not cmknight

Sorry I saw BBC and was not sure what that was, if it is BCM you are after, there are others with way more knowledge of those than myself on here, I know mine were decent layers until they got fat this spring and stopped for awhile. They lay big eggs, pretty dark ones, and are very cold hardy though. I had no frostbite on my marans combs at all this winter. And it was cold. They were out running around in the bad weather, moreso than several of my other breeds.

That's good to know. I want a Black Copper Maran for the dark brown eggs.

La Casa do you know of anyone that would be interested in my Copper Maran Rooster that I am bringing up to Chicken Stock? He is just barely 5 months old.

Yes, I like the dark eggs too!

Cuckoo marans roo? I had a friend (Blujems on here) looking for one last year, but she has her cuckoo hens in with the FBCM roo and hens, they make sexlink chicks so I think she is happy with that arrangement now. I bought a cuckoo hen from her, but the eggs were not dark at all so I sold her. But I hatched some of her eggs first, now I have one of her babies that she had with the FBCM roo lol will see if the eggs are any darker from this one. This chick was one of the sexlinks though so it is solid black instead of barred. Will be fun to see how she lays, she is getting close, she was born right after New Years. Pretty girl, Big black eyes like an australorp. She pretty much looks just like an australorp~! No red around the neck or anything coming in.

you could post on the UT thread to see if anyone wants it, I would be glad to bring it back from Id falls on Saturday.

The way I integrated my younger Australorps was to put a box in the run that had food and water in it. Then I put two holes in it that only the younger girls could fit through. That way if the bigger girls got after them, they could run into the box and get away. It only took a week or so and they were all friends and I could take the box out.
Great idea!!
Does anyone know how good of layers BCM's are and how winter hardy they are?
My girl layed well all winter, although I do supplement the light in the coop. My roo has a HUGE comb and did have some frostbite this winter, but nothing serious. I don't have the coop insulated and there's not supplemental heat.
