Mamahumecky--So sorry for the tragedy & for your little boy's sadness! I wonder if your neighbors would tell you if that happened if you asked them & let them know you didn't consider the dog at fault if the chick was in their yard. Maybe not if they didn't communicate in the first place. Sad.
Mo5C--I'm very sorry you can't keep your chickens. That's hard! Best wishes in finding the pullets good homes.
yeah no i doubt they'd own up to it. just is the only explanation that makes sense. we searched our yard and my dogs were crated over night like they always are so there wasn't anything in my yard to do the damage to the bird and it was rather close to the fence so... i just wish things weren't so tight so i could get Ansel a new chicken. we are now down to four =o( this is the reason why i did NOT want to brood chicks in the cold and my first time in the cold cold..blah
