ok I got a question I can't figure out the answer to my crazy hens are picking the paint off my house and eating it why are they doing that I feed them way more than they need and I give them snacks and extra protein ? btw my house is a light blue.

Wow, been a while since I've been on!!!! Hello to everyone, welcome to all the newbies!!
This has been an absolutely crazy year for us and it came to a head when DH got a job in North Dakota 4 weeks ago: 3 weeks on, 1 week off, and I have still been working full-time, will be able to go back to part-time this week, but working full-time with DH gone and getting kids where they need to be and the sitter has been pretty crazy and kind of stressful as well...
Had to sell some of my birds which I had really been looking forward to working with after finding out about zoning changes where I keep my breeder birds... But sooo glad Kalalyn was able to take my Marans and Bellia (not sure if she is here) took the Crested Cream Legbars, they will have good homes there....
That left me with the Wheaten Marans, German New Hampshires, and bantam cochins to work with.... hopefully will have some good progress with them in the late winter/early spring...
Chickenhill.... Wow, love the pics of those birds!! Those brahmas are really pretty, I had no idea they go that big, wow!! Also didn't know about that show in the fall, that's great that it has such a big draw!! Is the IBBA new?? I think I need to join
Bluebirds... how is that Swedish Flower Hen roo doing out there?? Isn't he nice eye candy??

looks like he's turned out to be quite a fellow, so glad he's working out for you!!
Finally got the coop ready for winter, put the water heater out there, taped up most of the vents, straw around the outside... yay!! Going to try putting the other birds in the greenhouse this winter... anybody ever tried that?? We'll see how they do....
Time to post some pics of my birds... Really liking how some of my Wheaten Marans are turning out and am very impressed with the German New Hamshires. They are a heritage breed, the roo is BIG, bigger than my Marans roo when he was 5 months old, and the pullets have been great layers so far. I also like their pretty red plumage and the pretty black ticking around their necks...

Oh yes, cochin51.. there are breeders in northern utah, Michelle over in Paul who has 3 varieties of Marans, Wheaten Ameracaunas, Orpingtons, bantam cochins and polish now (right?), another gal in Blackfoot that has Orpingtons, I don't know that I can call myself a breeder yet, I feel like I am a novice, but I will be working on the birds listed above, then there's thebirdguy who has some cool birds (not sure what he ended up with this fall, I know he at least has Black Australorps and Jersey Giants and Icelandics and heritage turkeys)

Dear Idahoans, I just posted an add for my rooster, D.C. in the "Free Animals in Need of Re-Homing" forum. Please go check him out. I live in Boise City and I can't keep him. It says everything about how I got him and there are some nice photos on the other forum, but he needs to go. He is FREE. Let me know if you need a Roo or know someone who does. Thanks!

Roosters are difficult to re-home unless they are exceptional birds for breeding or are rare. I always have plenty of extra birds by the end of the season. We put most in the freezer since we prefer avoiding the toxic mutant chickens sold in the grocery store.

Yeah un-fortunately that's what I figured, but thought I would try anyhow...I don't mind if he becomes a table bird but my boyfriend was actually the one upset about that! LOL, I won't process him myself though so...
