Idaho?

Does anybody in the fruitland Boise area have any silkie hens they'd want to get rid of, my two silkies who turned out to be Roos are fighting over my one silkie mix .

I live with my wife and kids in the in Ammon near Idaho Falls. I have chickens, rabbits, and pigs (shhh.. Dont tell my neighbors about the pigs). I grew up on a cattle ranch, but I've only raised small animals for the last year or so. However, I've learned to save lots of $$$ by buying local grain from Iona and mixing it with protein concentrate instead of buying commercial feed from Cal ranch. The feed from the Firth Mill is the most affordable I've seen in all of Southern Idaho , but I can still mix my own for cheaper.

Also, I will have a Berkshire/Hampshire cross pig ready for butcher in March or April if anybody is interested. I feed them grain, discarded veggies from Natural Grocers, old bread from Franz bakery outlet, kitchen scraps, and protien concentrate. After three months of feeding these piggies, I finally bought my only bag of commercial pig feed just to simplify things for my pet sitter while I'm on vacation.

Also, I'll be ordering some chicks and ducklings thus spring if anybody wants to split an order.

Hi, I just joined yesterday. I'm in Boise, Idaho. No chickens yet, but in the process of getting ready for them, and planning to buy some in spring.

Welcome to BYC! What sort of breed are you looking for. If you are looking for a hardy bird that can handle heat and cold, docile, calm, egg laying machines, and can make meat birds I suggest the Black Australorp. I got mine from Dunlap Hatchery. Amazing chickens, I will start hatching out Black Australorps this spring so if you want I can have save some for you or buy some from Dunlap. They start getting chicks I believe February or March. If you want peafowl I will have some peachicks this spring and hopefully White peachicks too.

Thanks! I definitely want to get a black Australorp and and Easter Egger, and then I was looking at getting a Barred Plymouth Rock and Rhode Island Red. I plan to get them all at Dunlap. :)

Your peacocks are gorgeous! I have never seen white ones before.
