I looked for one for a while and couldn't find one so I had one shipped to me last week. Wish I would have known this one would of been available

I should of posted this a while ago, He's 6 weeks old and getting big fast. I was afraid someone would just want him for the dinner table, he's friendly, but we can't keep him, hopefully we can find him a good home

I have 7 bantum roosters that need good homes...I posted this info on the "Managing your flock" and the most replies were about making them into dinners! These are all sweet boys (still rather young!) I'd love to see them go to any place but a dinner table. I never expected to get 10 boys from a 15 chick straight run...what's a mom to do? If you know anyone who could give these boys homes I'd be forever greatful.

Youch. I dont envy you...I won't eat any of my babies, either...I have 3 babies from one mama that are 7 weeks old and I think 2 out of the 3 are roosters...I also have horses and my hay people said they would trade me hay for all the roosters I could give them and they would raise them up and eat them since I didnt have the heart to. Well, I'm pretty much thinking I will keep them alllll and I just wont encourage my hens to have any more babies because I make pets out of everything. I have a flock of 20 as it is and 2 of those are 4 week old golden sex link pullets that are 4 weeks old tomorrow....they hang out in the chicken coop all day with the others (amazingly nobody picks on them) and when the sun starts to set and the rest of the flock is lining up at the coop door they climb onto their little box that I transport them to and from the coop everyday and start cheeping and screaming for me to come get them. Last night I was going to put them (in their little box with the grate on the top) in the coop with the 'real chickens' to sleep...they gotta do it sooner or later! Ummmm, no dice. They started jumping out and climbing to my shoulders making their little pssss psssss sounds to me and I came carrying them to the house...I have a feeling they'll be sleeping in here again tonight. If theyre kind of excited I bring out their little brooder light and hang it over their box until they start making their quiet night time sounds then I turn it off when I go to bed or when they settle down, whichever comes first. Some nights I have to bring out the light and other nights I dont. Thank god my husband works out of town...he thinks they sleep in the garage every night. LOL
Long story short...I absolutely understand your nervousness about finding them a home instead of a table...I would suggest you ask money for them...anythng free could end up as dinner. :\\ Good luck!

Forgot to mention in the last post that the 2 little golden sex link pullets are ones I bought this year...crazy, huh? I have a rooster and 14 hens and I have 2 sex link hens...lovvvvve them, they are so quiet and calm...so I got these little babies to add to the flock because I sell the eggs and I have more customers than eggs so it was a plus that I knew these were pullets...and a bonus that they are such awesome little pets! Speaking of that, it is now after 9 and I'm sure all the ladies are starting to line up at the coop door so pretty sure my little babies are sitting out there on one of the roosts in the pen looking towards the house waiting for "mama". LOL

I would like to offer anyone who wants to pick them up a bunch of young Sebright bantams. Both silver and gold and some are hatchery and some are from a breeder. I probably have 25+ both pullets and cockerel 3 months old. One roo must go with a pullet. I am located in Sagle Idaho.

Does anyone want to keep and not eat a RIR rooster? I'm about 90% sure the little one is a rooster, he's got the red comb and he's getting a lot bigger then the rest of the flock:hit
I'm getting attched to him and the longer I keep him the harder it's getting to let him go, I would really like to:hit find a good home for him where he won't be dinner, he's really sweet, jumps up in your lap.

I am so sorry for you - they don't allow roos here in idaho falls either. Maybe some type of "re-homing fee" will attract genuine pet chicken owners rather than folks looking for a free dinner.
