Why is it funny?

Loved the way you worded it, right to the point

. Did they just give you ones that were in poor health or mutts or what?

I ordered I think it was 30 Sebright bantams. Most had straight combs. Buff Orpintons ended up being white. Barred rocks were OK but had white wing feathers. They were good about sending extras. I think they gave me about 35 extra but to me they were all mutts. I guess most of these hatcheries probably buy their eggs. Any thoughts on it?

I would be quite disappointed too. That is a lot of replacements, they do not really mean much unless they are what you want! Thanks for the heads up--- I won't be ordering from them. I really like to get chicks/eggs from BYC breeders, it seems like most of the people on here really care about the preservation of the breeds. I did get some at CAL Ranch though last year and had pretty good luck. I got 2 at IFA, one, a white EE that meets every single Ameracauna standard and she is great, the other, a BR, has black patches of suspiciously Australorp black/emerald green though. Think they missed the mark on that one. Mostly barred but 3 patches not so much. All my breeds from CAL ranch seem to check out, Combs/colors/behaviours all seem true enough and they were healthy. I may go there again--but likely not to IFA, and BYC is still my first choice

I wasn't expecting show quality but I did want what I ordered. I finally got disheartened with the chickens and sold them all except 2 silkies. I have quail and that is what I'm going to concentrate on. I love golden skillet fried quail and the eggs are good as well.
