Ideal order shipped Monday, not here Wednesday...

Actually, I had planned on getting out to my (hopefully 95 degree) car before I opened the box, but that's probably great advice. I don't want to traumatize other people at the post office, but I definitely don't want to have to debate the facts afterwards. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I'll keep you posted. Hopefully there will be some kind of update in the next few hours. Keep praying!

i wish you luck and hope the babies make it. You may want to ask at the Post Office how their mail comes in. Once my order from Ideal shipped, i bugged my local PO to let them know chicks were coming. Then i asked about delivery times, then asked where the mail hits first. i discovered it all came in through the main PO about 30-45 minutes away. So i called and talked to a person there, alerting them to the incoming chicks. i asked him to call me immediately when they arrived. He was kind enough to tape a sticky note to their phone with my information. i did get a call at 1:00am and made the drive. Luckily, i only had one DOA and one little one who died the next day. Everyone else was fine.

Maybe you could make some calls and try to route where they may be. Get those postal workers on your side to track down the chicks and call you as soon as they are spotted.

HEY!!! I HAVE CHICKS!!!

...Not only that, but most of them are alive and kind of PO'd. Yeah, they are chirping angrily. I have gro-gel in there with them now. I have them separated into two boxes - an 'Alive & Angry' box, and an ICU box. The ones in the ICU box are kind of unresponsive, but I'm putting Gro-gel directly on their beaks and giving them as much attention as I can, and I've actually been able to move a couple of them over.

YAY!!!

I will be posting in the baby chick thread. Anybody that has tips on how to rescue sad, starved little chicks should definitely give me all the advice possible.

Also, along with the ones I ordered, I got a few Buff Orpingtons. I know nothing about that breed. But still - YAY!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!

Congrats on getting at least some of your chicks healthy. Better angry than DOA.

I'm glad they made it OK for you. My chicks from Ideal shipped on a Monday last year and arrived on Thursday. For some reason it takes an extra day for anything to get to me. I only had one fatality.

So glad they arrived! Hope most make it!

I'm amazed/sad at how many chicks are getting lost and/or delayed in transit already this season.

My dh had taken Friday off to come with us to pick em up at the PO. He was disappointed.

I'm so glad they finally arrived! I hope they all make it.

All these posts have me worried. My chicks from Ideal were supposed to have shipped yesterday, I'm hoping to get a call no later than tomarrow.
