I ordered 25 and they shipped 35 all are doing good they are 4 weeks old haven't lost any but the temps have really change since I got them. I would try to wait for the temps to go down a bit.

If you look at weather.com, it's still around 105 at 5pm...they'd be better off shipping at 8am. I wanted to order banties because they have assorted special right now $1/chick for 25+, 8/3 only. I'd hate to open a box of dead chicks. Then again, if they offer to send replacements I could have them wait until it was cooler - which won't be next week, still supposed to be in the 100s for at least ten more days. Sure am glad to be in 75 Portland.

It's suppose to be 109 here today with a heat index of 115+ Please wait to order your chicks. My car thermometer registered 111 yesterday at 6:30 pm. There is no rain predicted or any heat relief predicted for a long time. I've put a water cooler in my coop and I'm afraid that's still not going to be enough to keep my chickens cool. It's usually about 20 degrees cooler in the coop but with these temps it's still hitting 100 in there. I guess that beats 115 but ...just saying. I'm going to turn on my misters around 10 this morning and just let them run all day. I have a pair of ducks that don't have access to the big coop with the cooler (they fight with my other ducks). I might be bringing them inside this afternoon if I can figure a way to do it. So guess what I saying here is, please be kind to the chicks. Even if Ideal will give you credit or ship replacements later, it would be just cruel to let the chicks die. And even if they ship in the morning, they will probably travel down I-35 to reach their destination and they are calling for this heat in Oklahoma and other states. That's a full day in the back of a truck in this heat. That is a recipe for disaster. It's already in the 90's and it's not even 9 am. The only way I would buy chicks is if I could drive over there and bring them home myself.
