Ideal Poultry

Hmm, white spot on the head? I wonder if they are black sex-links. My order includes two black sex-links and should be here today or tomorrow. Then I'll be able to compare your mystery chicks to my black sex-links.

I ordered 20 RIR pullets from IDEAL back in October 2011. They arrived very quickly and all of them were very lively and doing well. They are beautiful chickens now. I ended up with 17 pullets and 3 roosters. They said to allow 10% error so I figured that wasn't too bad. I didn't mind having a rooster to keep. The others will go to a good cause. I would definitely order from them again.

the packing peanuts also have a blackish color to the legs on the front all down to the toes. here is a pic of the regular blue silkie chic. all the silkie have perfect toe seperation and all but 3 are bearded. The red and one of the buffs have no feathering on legs or toes but I knew that was possible after seeing photos of those from others that ordered from ideal. That's ok because they are yard ornaments for me.Who knows, maybe they will grow in but unlikely.

the packing peanuts will be given away. I can't eat what we raise as I get attached very easy. We have to many roosters as it is and don't need anymore. . I won't get rid of the peanuts for at least a week or so. The silkies ,cochin and polish if roosters we will keep as those are breeds we love and can use for breeding if they meet standards if not they are good yard ornaments and bug eaters. They are all very docile breeds .

they told me it depends on how many you order. I ordered 11 bantams and one standard and they also check the weather so they put what they think is needed to keep everyone warm. I was told by ideal if you order 25 standard size they won't have to add any because they are bigger than the banty chicks.
I know what you mean by a piece of heaven. We are on 31 acres and back on a long lane away from the main road. fields on one side and woods on the other. Our chickens have free range of all of it unless like right now it's snowing and very cold so they are in the coop on lockdown with the heat lamp.Doing that keeps the girls laying those wonderful fresh antibiotic and hormone free eggs.

I ordered two bantam specials last year. Out of 50 only one chick was sickly. Now pruned down to 8 ladies who are just starting to lay they are gorgious friendly girls, even the japanese who has just started laying is giving me an egg every other day. :)

I'm excited to order from them again this year 1. Because you can order less then 25 and 2. They let you put chicks and ducks together!

Our house (large) is surrounded by about an acer large green yard. All have apple trees in and they have old picket fence outlining one! We have a acre large garden where my siblings and i can do whatever in them! Then we have about 5 wild pastures that are like mini prairies! Complet with the animals! We have like two acers of forest infront of our house and we two medium sized barns. Then we have a chicken house the size of a trailer house! Awwwwwwwwwwwwww
