Congrats on the babies! I'm glad you were able to save the 2 banties. They look great, and happy.

Wouldn't it be funny if the hatchery advertised a real "Sunrise Special" and just sent roosters?

(I'm sorry. I must be suffering from brain freeze in this weather. There would be nothing funny about 25 roosters!)

G Wiz Ranch- Ideal does seem to be really good. All that made it here alive are still alive, about 21 hours later. They seem to be pretty vigorous babies, especially considering how cold it was here yesterday! I worked out a pretty good method for getting beaks dipped and counting, though if I ever get this many at a time again, I will definitely have help waiting here for me. I placed all the babies in one section, just to get them under the light, then sorted the banties and ducks into their own pen. It was actually a comedy of errors, because I placed the box on the floor(cold concrete), and started sorting. I realized they were getting too cold on the floor, so I just put them all in one pen. As I sorted them out, I realized the bedding was exposed in the other pens, so I had to quickly sort, dip beaks/bills, cover bedding, etc. It would have been funny to watch, I am sure.

I didn't realize there were no duck pics, sorry. Here you go: The green stuff is the super grogel B stuff from Ideal. It took them a while, but they ate it.

I am looking forward to figuring out what all these babies are, as they grow. The surprise special is fun!

I ordered 35 suprise pullets from Ideal also. they hatched out on dec 28th and all made it to me safe!!

its going to be exciting to figure them out. maybe we can swap pics to see what they turn out to be.

They are beautiful! I just love the dark colored ducklings. My son has been asking when we can get ducks. I have to break the husband into chickens before I go whacko on him with ducks and turkeys.
